Larry Brewster, Managing Director Larry Brewster leads the national real estate consulting business for commercial real estate owners, investors and operators tax reduction valuation, market analysis and due diligence that in only the last few years has produced millions of dollars in tax savings from over $8 billion in commercial real estate. His 30 years in industry includes both domestic and international experience in real estate, software and health care. Larry's expertise includes bringing new commercial real estate concepts to market and strategic planning consulting to real estate developers and investors across several classes of assets. He holds both a Bachelors of Economics and a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University, and chairs the NAIOP Tax and Finance Subcommittee Chairman. Larry is also a member of the NAIOP Capital Markets Forum and is a NAIOP-PAC Trustee.
Carl Thornton, Managing Director, Appraisal Services Carl Thornton oversees operations for all commercial property appraisal related services, including the technical implementation of our growth in cost segregation as a tool for federal tax reduction. He is a Texas State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser with additional certifications in 25 states. He provides the technical compliance review of cost segregation reports, while managing all support functions for timely production. Carl has been with O'Connor & Associates since 1999. He is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University.
Mike Olivares, National Director Mike Olivares has 18 years of consulting, sales, sales management, and operational management experience in the information technology, retail, and real estate industries. Mike's experience represents a particular focus on developing accounting and financial solutions for small and mid-sized companies to Fortune 100 companies through consulting services. His real estate background includes software consulting, residential, and federal tax reduction consulting. Mike oversees the sales and expansion efforts for the Central US region, including Texas, Missouri, Illinois and Minnesota. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Speech Communication from the University of Texas at Austin.
Don McDougall, National Director Don McDougall has more than 25 years of experience in the sales, marketing, business development and delivery of appraisal, valuation, cost segregation and various tax reduction services. Don is headquartered in our Los Angeles office and oversees the sales and expansion efforts for the west coast region, including California, Nevada, Colorado, Washington and Oregon. In addition to directing business in the western region, Don also leads the development of various new and existing services across the entire O'Connor & Associates services portfolio. Don graduated from UCLA with a concentration in mathematics.
King White, Practice Manager, Real Estate Consulting King White has over 30 years of consulting experience on behalf of clients, ranging from small business owners to fortune 100 companies, working to reduce taxes and improve financial performance. In the past few years alone, he has advised companies across the nation representing over $5 Billion in office, multi-family and hotel real estate assets. His technical expertise includes federal, state and local tax reduction and tax deferral, as well as various strategies to cut transaction costs through purchase accounting and valuation best practices. King is a graduate of the University of Houston and a past Certified Financial Planner, Registered Investment Advisor, and Registered Representative with a Series 7 license.
William Bandy, CPA Bill Bandy has 32 years of CPA experience that includes the real estate, construction and oil & gas industries. After gaining audit experience with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Company, Bill founded his own firm, Blakely & Bandy, Inc., focused on real estate and tax in 1981. Bill has worked with O’Connor and Associates for more than 10 years on various tax and real estate matters related to valuation, appraisal, property tax, organization of real estate entities, 1031 exchange and cost segregation. He was a member of the team who launched our cost segregation services practice more than five years ago and remains our primary advisor in assisting clients and their CPA’s to better understand how cost segregation and related depreciation strategies can save them tax dollars.
